I also like the twinkle in his eyes in that last photo. God bless and keep him. Just for in...An excellent read and a nice tribute.

Just for interest's sake, Dad was a despiatch rider and, naturally, travelled about a lot, even before D-Day. He saw what he thought were odd looking floating casements made from concrete, but was told they were concrete landing craft. This was reinforced when he saw bodies being washed ashore following the Slapton Sands disaster - he was told some of the concrete landing craft had broken up at sea. Imagine his surprise when he saw the Mulberry installations? Somebody had been on the ball.GaryAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06963552380378929829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316437260668122878.post-61423879786068826872014-06-06T20:49:44.615+01:002014-06-06T20:49:44.615+01:00Lovely post, Edwin - enjoyed that very much - I am...Lovely post, Edwin - enjoyed that very much - I am, as I type this, toasting your dad with a very nice glass of Tesco's beaujolais! I've read a lot of claptrap about D-Day over the last couple of days - I really appreciate this contribution - different class!MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316437260668122878.post-54881819237932918702014-06-06T20:17:11.124+01:002014-06-06T20:17:11.124+01:00The best thing I've read today, thank you Edwi...The best thing I've read today, thank you Edwin, but more appropriately thank you Hubert.
