It was just my musing over the difference between "major quibble" and "near deal breaker" that prompted my subsequent post.Diplomatisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04154642903216207181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316437260668122878.post-27363649563828377602016-06-07T23:49:14.719+01:002016-06-07T23:49:14.719+01:00I have to stop myself and switch of being overly c...I have to stop myself and switch of being overly critical about stuff all the time. Aren't they the same thing? ;)

I was reading for pleasure rather than anything else, or it would be a bigger factor. I do wonder whether this was the 'popular' edition and an earlier one was choca with notes.

At least you didn't mention the Chicago Style Guide as one review I read did. What is it with some people and the CSG? Is it a covert way of saying they were educated to a certain level?Diplomatisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04154642903216207181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316437260668122878.post-32812399797720713792016-06-07T01:55:22.423+01:002016-06-07T01:55:22.423+01:00Good review. I guess studying history has made me kind of snobby like that but given everying else about the book and as you highlighted the authours 'covert' career I'll admit to being suspicious.

Cheers,

Pete.Pete.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06668389518826053090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316437260668122878.post-52039724944486082062016-06-06T21:09:30.894+01:002016-06-06T21:09:30.894+01:00Nor Rocky and Bullwinkle!Nor Rocky and Bullwinkle!Peter Douglashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14118894381672707297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316437260668122878.post-27581305943354659392016-06-06T21:02:39.513+01:002016-06-06T21:02:39.513+01:00Def worth a read if you're interested in the V...Def worth a read if you're interested in the V-2, the Cold War or the Space Race. Certainly better than a 'reputable' biog of von Braun (published by the Naval Institute Press for heavan's sake!) I bought a while back, which turned out to be a hagiography by the former editor of the Huntsville Times.

And nobody's mentioned Dr Strangelove yet.Diplomatisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04154642903216207181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8316437260668122878.post-11389051284117425882016-06-06T20:49:26.956+01:002016-06-06T20:49:26.956+01:00Interesting review Edwin. I remember well the jokes about the Russians (or Americans) getting all the "good" Germans after WW2.
Cheers, PDPeter Douglashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14118894381672707297noreply@blogger.com
