Terrain Tuesdays

Nobody mentioned it, but I felt a bit of a fraud publishing an AAR last week with a table dressed with lumps of unpainted resin and featuring BluTac.

Of course it doesn't matter (especially in a solo game!), but the point of getting a solo game in was to prompt me to do some work.  So I hereby unveil a new feature - Terrain Tuesdays.

I finished off the nests.

Dinosaur nests from Poundland
Fortunately, Boots provide a handy source of plastic every week.,,,

...which can be turned into handy river sections.

At the moment they look more like the manicured banks of the Cam than some jungle river, but I hope to change that,

  2. Looks to me that hobby funk you have been fighting is facing extinction. Full speed ahead, Edwin!

  3. Splendid looking terrain ideas, and great idea for the dino nests.
What is the plastic object in the third photo?

    1. It's the weekly tray that my wife's meds are dispensed in (she takes about a dozen pills a day).

  4. Is it for contact lenses?
I really look forward to seeing the dino eggs in their nests.

    1. They're not that exciting (eggcisitng?). I've left them pretty much as you see them in the last photo - grey with a green speckle.

  5. In actual fact, I saw a few ideas from the terrain featured in the AARs. The dried flowers and (I believe they were) cotton bud plants are two that immediately come to mind.
One piece of my own terrain (from the PBB) that I'm particularly fond of is the large stone that stood in the middle of the farmer's field. I picked it up while dog walking, painted it grey and then dry-brushed it with a lighter shade. Simple, cheap, effective, and sentimental.

    1. The dried flowers were tomato stalks and garlic.

Wargamers - the only people would paint rocks to make them more life-like!

    2. Now that you mention it - It does seem a rather daft thing to do! :)

    3. Don't worry - you're not alone!

  6. Great acquisitions. I too find that there is a tension between having proper terrain and just getting on with playing some games. The time I took off from the hobby saw most others perfecting their technique and amassing gorgeous terrain. I guess I can't cry over spilled milk though. Just need to get on with making terrain.
