Interesting Kickstarter

Now, as will be apparent to regular readers, I'm quite keen on pulp and retro sci-fi (or AtomPunk even).  I was interested therefore to read a post on the League of Extraordinary Gamers blog about a newish Kickstarter Assault on Fortress Moon.

I'm not going to go into much detail as the LXG post and the Kickstarter page does that, but it does look interesting.  The artwork and fluff seem good.

I'm not sure if I'll be backing myself (to get a physical copy here in the UK would require an $85.00 commitment), but I shall watch it.  They're looking for $25,000, which seems a lot, and I'm not sure if they'll make it.

International Big Box Day

Welcomes

With a comp running, there will be a spate of new followers to welcome.  First off the blocks are

Welcome to you both!  I hope you enjoy the ride.

Big Boxes

Today is International Big Box Day - no, wait!  That's just at our house isn't it?

First is this, a charity shop purchase:-

Anyone remember me saying that I wasn't going to be distracted from Pulp in Egypt?

But after the success of the last charity shop rocket, I couldn't pass up this much larger one (especially at £1.25!)

And the other bits and pieces look useful too.

"Guard it" he said.  "How long for?" I said.  "Until I come back!" he said.
That was last week...

And then there was this...

Can you tell what it is yet?

More has been revealed on the Diplomatist Books' Facebook page.

Atompunk Magazine Covers!

Thanks to Victoria's Boys in Red, I've come across the Pulp-O-Mizer - a very cool tool for making your own pulp magazine covers.

I've had a little play...

Retrofuturism - The World of Tomorrow, Yesterday!

While working as a Google-drudge for The Wife - she is moving on from Steampunk and now wants to explore Dieselpunk - I discovered a new genre 'Atompunk', and found a nice blog, the Dark Roasted Blend.  It could be about coffee, but it's not.  According to its strap-line, it's focused on 'weird and wonderful things', but what appeals to me is it's strong streak of retrofuturism.  From there, we get to Dreams of Space, 'non-fiction children's books about space flight from 1945-75'.

I'm off for a good browse...

A little while ago, I complained that the UK distributor of Hydra Miniatures had run out of their 28mm Robot Legion figures.

This week I was pleased when a parcel arrived (what over on the British Medals Forum is termed 'the Jiffy Bag Dance') and out popped 'Opito'.  Now I want to find someone who does the guys in the top photo!
