The Great Boobs and Donuts Debate...

While the clock is still with me, I'll do a second Wednesday Welcome post.

The reason is that we've been joined by Zzzzzz.  I hope you find something of interest here, Zed.  I can't see a blog attached to your profile: if you have one, let me know, and I'll mention it.

The kind of question that keeps me up at night

Why on a day when I make a meandering post about odds and ends do I get 260 views. whereas on a day I post about Nelson's navy I get less than 90?

I think the answer is Blog Rolls.  If you go to your favorite blog and see a link to A Multi-Topic Post I think you are more likely to hit it than one that's Vice-Adm Lord Collingwood.  The former prompts you to think 'There might be something for me there', but the latter is either 'Oh him' or 'Who the hell is that?'

Well, that's just human nature.  Donuts anyone?

  1. It's the internet, there's no rhyme or reason. Have a doughnut and relax.

  2. Yep, I know.

I'm relaxed enough about it - I'm off to bed soon (only got three hours sleep last night) so no donut. I'll have a Danish tomorrow.

  4. Well, if you mist consider the machinations of the universe late at night, consider this:

The perfect ring donut is produced by Greggs.

    FACT!

    1. Well, you're one to talk - quoting Socrates at this time of night!

Not really a ring donut man - I prefer a Danish or egg custard. If I must have a donut, it'd have jam in it...

  8. A conjecture: You post about many interesting things, not all of which will appeal to all of your audience (donuts excepted). Having seen the title in whatever reader or aggregator is in use, a follower not interested in British naval leaders will not click on poor Admiral Collingwood. However, seeing the vague title "A Multi-Topic Post", there is a good chance it might relate to that follower's area of interest so they will give it a look in. Blogger does not appear to give time spent viewing the page stats which would give you an idea if people are nipping in and out or settling in to read the whole post.

I must express my disappointment that the poster did not depict the Bavarian Cream or French Cruller of the species. The latter being close to heaven fresh out of the fryer.

    1. Yes Pat, that's what I thought and was trying to say - you've put it much more eloquently than I did, thank you.

I'm going to carry on posting about the mustaches and dead bishops, even if it's just for me and a handful of others. But there'll also be mindless waffle that we can all enjoy!

Through the delights of Google I see that a Barvarian Cream is a donut with crème pâtissière (rather than drème bavaroise). I think it's therefore what we'd call a custard doughnut and is what Ray thought James and I were referreing to when were mentioned egg custards - in fact we're talking about that northern delicacy that suthernrs call the custard tart.

      Time for elevensies!

    2. I do the multi topic post every now and again because it's easier than posting loads of little posts when you can do it all in one hit!
